Through the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund (led by Historic England and funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport), Greenhouse Sports has received an additional £132,575 to put towards the restoration of the Greenhouse Centre, which will be open again on 27 April 2026.
This comes as an additional boost to the initial investment of £663,100, received as part of a £15m national fund supporting at-risk heritage sites in deprived areas. The Greenhouse Centre was one of only two projects selected in London, showing itself to be a thriving hub of activity, full of connected communities.
Louise Brennan, Director of Regions for Historic England, said: “It’s been a big project for us, but coming here and seeing the craftsmanship of the repair work that’s been done is absolutely brilliant. More than that, hearing the stories about what’s going to happen here, I think it’s amazing!”
Marie Smallwood, Project Lead for the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund, added: “The way your community starts with the young people, but then goes through to the parents, the coaches, and that longevity and the breadth of what you’re doing is really fantastic to see.”
