From Shy to Spectacular: Luna’s “Ours” Story

The Centre gives me the space to be myself. Through table tennis here, I’m learning how to build a positive mindset and not let doubt get in the way of what I want to do. That’s opened doors to opportunities I never thought I’d have.

I’m Luna. I first started in the Centre nine years ago playing table tennis, and I’m ready to see the doors open to the community again!

Being part of the Centre has helped me learn to love the process and appreciate progress.

I was really shy in school. I’d never speak up, never raise my hand during lessons. But in the Centre, it felt really safe. The vivid memories came when I could feel myself getting better at table tennis. The coaches supported me through that process, and it gave me the confidence to feel more comfortable at school too.

I think the one thing that is the most important to me is that I get to be the person that I once looked up to when I was younger.

I was inspired by all the older kids who I’d play against and who would help me get better, and when the Centre is open again, I can’t wait to give back to those younger kids because I know how they feel.
