As part of the Royal Foundation’s Coach Core programme, we offer coaching apprenticeships that give young people aged 16-24 years old living in London the chance to become the next generation of inspirational coaches. Coach Core was developed with the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry who wanted to create a sports programme that gives young people the opportunity to succeed. Greenhouse Sports delivered the pilot programme in partnership with the Royal Foundation in 2012 and we are thrilled to see the programme continue to grow from strength to strength.
As part of the programme, our Coach Core apprentices combine classroom work and sessions with our existing coaches to build skills and learn what it takes to become a Greenhouse Sports coach. Apprentice coaches earn their Level 1 coaching qualification through this process, and often are able to continue their journey with us as Junior Coaches, supporting a Senior Head Coach on a Greenhouse Sports programme.
This pathway is an important part of the learning and development opportunities we provide, as we support young people to employment following their time on Greenhouse Sports’ programmes.
