The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in fundraising income. In response, the organisers of the biggest mass-participation sports events across the country have come together to create The 2.6 Challenge.
Take part in an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to support Greenhouse Sports #HomeCoach via JustGiving.
Most people are taking part from Sunday 26 April (what would have been London Marathon day) but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you.
There are just five simple steps to take:
- Dream up your 2.6 challenge (taking Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing into account) – if you need help, there are lots of ideas below
- Head to JustGiving to donate £26 – or whatever you can afford – to Greenhouse Sports or to set up a fundraising page
- Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
- Complete your challenge
- Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with #HomeCoach #TwoPointSixChallenge and tag us (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Ama Agbeze, Team England Netball star and Commonwealth Gold Medallist has set a special task for the Greenhouse #HomeCoach 2.6 Challenge – see if you can map a figure 2 and 6 on your activity route!
She says: ‘If you are going to run, walk or cycle for the Challenge, try and map out a route where you can complete a figure two and a six. Take a smartphone with you and you can use a Maps app or tracker app like Strava or MapmyRun and it will log your route and save it.
“If you can do both 2 and 6 and get the ‘point’ in between the numbers that’s a gold medal performance! You can try it on your local streets or any open space around you. Take a screenshot of your ‘numbers’, share it on social media and challenge or nominate your friends and family to do it too.”
A big thank you to Lord Seb Coe who set himself a #HomeCoach 2.6 Challenge in aid of Greenhouse Sports – more information on his challenge and how to support him can be found here.
Greg Rusedski, former British number 1 tennis player, is also kindly taking on a 2.6 Challenge for us – find out more and donate here.
We hope you’ll join the nation in the #HomeCoach 2.6 Challenge to support Greenhouse Sports and the young people that need our help.
