Next week  from Giving Tuesday (November 30th) Big Give launches the annual Christmas Challenge campaign, where Greenhouse will see every donation matched and therefore doubled during that time. It’s the best time to show support for Greenhouse Sports, where any donation will have twice the impact.

As London emerges from the worst of the pandemic, the scale of its impact is only just being realised. Our Coaches see first-hand the effect it has had on the young people we support.

Our services are needed more than ever now to mentor young people in their education and development, which has been so disrupted in the last 18 months, as we help young Londoners to recover from the pandemic, and the greatest threat to the life-chances of a generation since the 2nd World War.

Positively, more and more headteachers and schools have seen how Greenhouse will make a difference for their children in this challenging time. We are now working in more schools in more areas of London than before the Covid-19 pandemic, supporting more young people with nearly 60 Coaches working in schools fulltime across London – delivering our unique sports coaching and mentoring model.

This year, responding to need, we expanded and started working in primary schools for this first time in the charity’s history, and the results have been life-affirming.

We need ongoing funding to sustain this and support the thousands of youngsters in a Greenhouse programme. We are currently working with more than 7,500 young people each year but there are so many more who would benefit from a Greenhouse coach in their lives.

That’s why we are excited to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021, and why it is so important. We have £50,000 of matched funding available from two generous supporters, so any donation you make  will be doubled until we reach £100,000. This means your donation will have twice the impact and can go further in supporting young people across London.

The campaign will be going live on Giving Tuesday, the 30th November at 12 noon and will run until the 7th December at 12 noon. I hope you can consider supporting our Christmas Challenge as we work to give every child a fair chance to succeed.
