Greenhouse Sports Founder championed for bringing together a passion for sport with a desire to stamp out social injustice

Congratulations to Mike de Giorgio for being named one of the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000: London’s most influential people 2019. He is recoginised in the category of Activists: Philanthropy.

Seventeen years ago Mike had a vision for providing access to organised sport and coaching for some of West London’s most disadvantaged children. That vision today sees Greenhouse Sports coaches working with nearly 7,500 young people across 50 programmes in schools in 16 London boroughs.

The Evening Standard’s profile states: ‘De Giorgio is an investor, mentor and influential figure in the field of using sport to change lives. Once a high-flying consultant, he quit his job in 2001 to set up Greenhouse Sports, bringing together a passion for sport with his desire to stamp out social injustice. The charity uses sports coaching and mentoring to build confidence in disadvantaged schoolchildren across London, helping youngsters to unlock their full potential.’
