It was an honour to be invited back to BGC Charity Day for the second year running, which took place on Monday 11th September 2017. The annual Charity Day hosted by BGC Brokers in London commemorates the 658 members of staff who lost their lives in 9/11, by distributing 100% of their global revenues on the day to dozens of charities around the world.
Since 2002, Charity Day has raised over $137 million globally, turning what was a hugely tragic day in 2001 into one that is positive and uplifting by supporting others and helping people in need. Once again, Greenhouse Sports were chosen as one of Mint Partners’ charity beneficiaries for this year’s event.
Each charity has their own celebrity ambassador who is invited on the day to tour the trading floor, interact with the brokers and make a few trades, with all proceedings going to the charities involved. This year our ambassador was Mike Philips, former Welsh scrum-half and passionate charity supporter. Mike spent a couple of hours on the trading floor where he got the chance to make a few trades and talk to the floor about Greenhouse Sports, when being interviewed by Davina McCall. A huge thank you to Mike for supporting us on the day.
Two of our young table tennis participants from Crest School also joined us for the day, along with their coach Jason Sugrue. They spent the afternoon playing table tennis with people from other charities, showcasing their fantastic skills, before joining Mike Phillips up on the trading floor where they interacted with brokers and handed out some Greenhouse Sports goodies.
It was a fantastic day to be a part of and we are hugely grateful to BGC and Mint Partners for inviting us back for the second year running.
