Greenhouse Sports players and coaches participated once again in Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46, thanks to an initiative run by long-time supporter Prudential.

Through the PruGOals programme, fifteen participants and coaches were given the opportunity to participate in the iconic event, and were supplied with bicycles, equipment and tips and tricks on training and nutrition that proved valuable in completing the race – they were even treated to inspiring words from PruGOals ambassador, Nicola Adams OBE, who joined them on the ride.

Nicola said: “I’d have absolutely loved something like PruGOals when I was growing up. It gives kids from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to take part in sports that they may never have thought about doing. It’s inspiring, it builds confidence, and it brings people together.”

Andre Nathaniel-George, one of our apprentice coaches, completed the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 added: “It was an amazing experience – everyone on the route was really supportive. It was a once in a lifetime thing to cycle up The Mall at the end and hear the crowds cheering – I’ll never forget it!”

At an event for riders on Saturday evening, Greenhouse Sports participant-turned-coach Mulenga Chafilwa was recognised for his ongoing commitment to the PruGOals programme. Mulenga has progressed from riding to coaching others and next year he will become an ambassador for the whole programme.

The aim of the PruGOals programme is to empower young people to realise their ambitions and fulfil their potential regardless of social or economic background. Greenhouse Sports looks forward to participating again in PruGOals 2018 – thank you Prudential!
