Team Green pick up medals in London Youth Games
The London Youth Games has been so exciting over the last few months! Participants from across our 50 sports programmes around the capital where chosen to represent their borough in this fantastic celebration of sport (Europe’s largest annual youth sports event) because of their dedication, bravery and skill. ‘Team Green’ participants competed in basketball, volleyball, judo, tennis and table tennis LYG tournaments.
Wandsworth, home to our table tennis, volleyball and judo programmes at Ernest Bevin College, capped off another record-breaking year at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games after being crowned Jubilee Trophy champions for the third straight year at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre last weekend.
Wandsworth won a total of ten gold medals, including male and female volleyball and male judo. Hackney Girls basketball team, made up of Clapton Girls Academy and Bridge Academy Greenhouse players, rode a winning streak all the way to the finals where they clinched a much deserved silver medal. Brent Girls table tennis team, with girls from Capital City Academy, went one better than last year to take gold.
Well done to everyone who took part!
