A passion for basketball bags speaking contest win
On the 12th May, one of our partner schools, Cumberland School, hosted a superb “Speakout” Regional Final for the Jack Petchey “Speak Out” Challenge programme in Newham. One of our most dedicated basketball participants from Brampton Manor School, Titas Zydelis, took top honours with a fantastic speech about his passion for the sport of basketball and how it has inspired him.
Titas’ dream is to be an Lithuanian NBA Basketball Star and he is determined to achieve his dream following the motto of his hero Michael Jordan, ‘some want it, some wish it would happen, others make it happen’.
“Basket allows me to meet new people, become more independent and the game of basketball has been everything to me – my place of refuge,” says Titas during his speech. “For everything I have been through, I must thank my coach (Greenhouse’s Carl Latham-Henry) for the effort he put in.”
