Our Coach Fe inspires the next generation of coaches

Young coaches academy

Coach Fe, our Senior Head Coach at Clapton Girls’ Academy, was invited to deliver a coaching workshop to the London Youth Games’ Youth Coaches Academy in Crystal Palace.

She spoke to the young coaches about her story – how she began her coaching career and where she is now, and led a Q&A session. Afterwards, Coach Fe ran a series of practical activities to get the young coaches engaged, feeling confident, and working together. The activities also emphasized how listening to and following instruction leads to success.

Coaches are at the core of what we do at Greenhouse Sports. A well-trained coach can positively impact not only the individual but the whole community.

Research by Sports Coach UK has shown that coaching provides genuine development opportunities for individuals in disadvantaged communities. In the research, it was found that participants of high quality coaching sessions become fitter and healthier, and their confidence and self-esteem increased. As a result of increased confidence, many reported improved career aspirations. This has a knock-on effect – by helping participants to develop themselves, coaching creates value for the surrounding community.

Greenhouse Sports has over 50 coaches working in London schools, and also supports the development of young coaches by providing apprentice pathways in partnership with Coach Core and Bank of America Merrill Lynch

We are excited to continue working in partnership with other organisations such as the London Youth Games to support the young people of London.
