Table tennis tournament reveals rising Greenhouse Sports star

Greenhouse Sports table tennis participants at Ernest Bevin College had a fantastic weekend with four boys playing at the U13 Jack Petchey ESTTA Central London Individual Table Tennis Championships. Rising star Adam, aged 12, won nine out of his 10 matches to come third in the competition overall. Adam – who has only been playing table tennis for just over a year – narrowly lost to the eventual winner of the tournament, a top ranked England player who represents the national team.

With his stellar result, Adam earned himself a place at the Jack Petchey ESTTA U13 Schools National Finals in June. But the rest of the Ernest Bevin team also performed well, powering on to the final after beating Raine’s Foundation and Harefield School. They also beat Wallington Country Grammar School and Burlington Danes Academy at the semi-finals to earn their place in the finals where they eventually lost to the national team champions, London Academy.

Big congratulations to the boys for taking a well-deserved second place across London and we’ll be seeing more of them in the Regional Schools Final on 20th March in Bristol.

Greenhouse Coach Renan Wiest said: “I am very happy with this weekend. Adam only started playing table tennis just over a year ago. So to come third to players who have been playing since they were 6 years old is remarkable. And to have the team named second best in London is a great result. Well done to the whole team!”
