The spectacular QF & Rapha 573km cycle challenge is complete
Thank you to Quintessentially Foundation and Rapha for organising such an amazing charity cycle challenge last week! Sixty people, including Greenhouse Sports Coach Vidal Graham and CEO Michael de Giorgio, covered 573km cycling across the Alps between Orange and Nice to raise thousands of pounds for charity. Quintessentially Foundation joined forces with the prestigious cycle brand Rapha – clothiers to Team Sky – to create the ultimate charity bike ride, the Quintessentially Foundation + Rapha Alps-Maritime Challenge, which navigated the Côte d’Azur from Orange to Nice via the highest paved road in Europe.
“I want to say thank you to Quintessentially Foundation and Rapha for looking after us so well,” said Michael de Giorgio. “The support was truly first class. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
The four-day randonnée was a demanding challenge of both fitness and resolve, as each day the cyclists covered on average 130km including substantial mountain climbs. The star of the route was undoubtedly the climb of the Col de la Bonette, near the border with Italy. This formidable mountain pass provides a long, steady climb and a rugged, sublime panorama at its peak. Other key climbs included Col de Font Belle, Col du Corobin, Gorges d’Aluis and Col de la Cayolle. Well done and thank you to everyone who took part in this testing, once-in-a-lifetime challenge!
