Harris Academy basketball team dig deep in National Schools Champs

In last weekend’s Dynamik National Schools Basketball Championship U15 Boys Conference final four, Harris Academy South Norwood fought bravely to bring home the runner-up trophy after beating last year’s winner The Lancaster School convincingly in the semi-finals and losing out on the title by just seven points to Holy Trinity School. Congratulations to the whole team and to coach Michael Wright.

The basketball team (listed below) demonstrated key elements of the Social, Thinking, Emotional and Physical (STEP) development framework which Greenhouse coaches base their programmes on to overcome tough opposition and perform to the best of their abilities as a team. Working together, planning and executing strategy, supporting one another and performing under pressure has enabled them to become the 2nd best U15 school basketball team in England.

Greenhouse basketball Coach Michael Wright: “It was a great weekend and the whole team played very well, we made it into the Final and gave a good account of ourselves. It was a great experience for us all and to come away with runners up was better than I had hoped for. The whole tournament was well run by Basketball England and we are already looking forward to next year’s school events.”
