Greenhouse Sports announced as Charity Times Award finalist
Greenhouse Sports has been named to the shortlist for Charity Times Award’s Charity of the Year (£1m-£10m). For 14 years, Greenhouse Sports has worked to improve the life chances of young people living in disadvantaged areas of London through the provision of school- and community-based sport programmes. In 2014-15, our inspirational coaches engaged 8,000 young people before, during and after school – key times when young people are at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour – in table tennis, basketball, judo, tennis, volleyball, football, swimming and multi-sport programmes for students with special educational needs.
Greenhouse Sports programmes are designed to develop our participants not just as athletes but also as people. Through sport, young people can learn key life skills such as leadership, confidence, and determination as well as improve their physical fitness and create healthy habits that will stay with them for life.
Greenhouse Sports was shortlisted by Charity Times Awards in 2015 as well. The Charity Times Awards continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector. Now in their 17th year, the awards are run by Charity Times Magazine – the leading title for UK non-profit professionals. This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards Gala Dinner & Ceremony on 28 September 2016 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London.
