Greenhouse London FC Ladies win the league
It was a victorious day for the Greenhouse London Football Club Ladies team who took the Greater London Women’s Football League by storm yesterday after beating their close rivals Victoire Ladies at home 4-1 in the final match of the season. The Greenhouse London FC ladies team, led by Sarah Quinn and managed by Zoltan Bardocz, needed to beat their opponents to take top honours and having done so, took the league with 47 points, while Victoire Ladies had to settle for runner-up position with 45 points.
To seal their victory, two goals came from the boot of Louise Wells, as well as one each from Misty Townsend and Monserratt Grau. The Greenhouse London FC Ladies were riding high on an unbeaten run of 9 matches before their big win and have now been promoted to Division 2 following the fantastic performance this season. The ladies played 18 games, winning 15, drawing 2 and losing only 1 to Victoire at the beginning of the season.
Captain Sarah Quinn said of the ladies first ever league title: “I am immensely proud personally as the team captain and assistant to our team manager, Zoltan Bardocz. We have worked extremely hard this season and it has paid off. Up, up and away to division 2!”
Shane Dorsett, Programme manager GLFC: “In a club as large as ours, the adult teams do not always get the attention and support that they need and indeed deserve. GLFC is incredibly proud of this group as they made the decision to support each other and achieve something special together.”
