Ernest Bevin beach volleyball boys take Silver in Youth Games

Team Wandsworth volleyball team, made up of Ernest Bevin College’s Greenhouse Sports participants, competed in the first ever beach volleyball competition in the London Youth Games – Europe’s largest annual youth sports event. With only a few training sessions on sand ahead of the competition and with some tough, experienced opponents, they won a silver medal!

The team made up of Ernest Bevin College players were: Arran Simon, Cameron Carrington, Adam Baiza, Eric Chao and Christian Iaonnou. Twelve teams took part in the competition with Wandsworth boys fighting off Richmond A team in the semi-final 21-17, followed by a close match in the final against Hounslow A and narrowly losing out on the the Gold 21-18.
They now focus their attention on retaining gold at the indoor volleyball competition on Saturday 4th July. Congratulations to the team! Best of luck for the next battle!
