Greenhouse Sports tennis coach wins top achievement award

Head Tennis Coach at The Cumberland School Gary Kruse was presented with a prize for Outstanding Achievement at the Essex Tennis Awards earlier this month. The award was created specially for Gary who was nominated by Kelly Montgomery, one of our programme managers, for introducing tennis to a wide variety of pupils who have not had the opportunity to play the game before. She also described his success at building a thriving community club where players now compete for the school and in external competitions.

At the event – held at the Essex Tennis AGM at the Jean Brown Centre, Redbridge Sports Centre Essex – Tennis Executive Officer Lynn O’Brien said: “At Essex Tennis we are always pleased to be able to award individuals who go above and beyond their remit and give added value to their tennis community. Gary Kruse is such an individual and his work at The Cumberland School inspired the Essex Awards Committee to create a new category for Outstanding Achievement in their annual award programme.”

Coach Gary said: “I’m proud to accept this award and want to thank all the participants at The Cumberland School who turn up in all weathers, who always give one hundred percent on the court and who make my job so enjoyable. Thanks also to Lynn, Will Calvert and the awards committee at Essex Tennis, and to my programme manager Kelly for nominating me.”
