A championship judo medal haul for Ernest Bevin College
Young judoka from Ernest Bevin College’s Greenhouse Sports judo programme traveled across the UK to battle on the mat in Wales last weekend at the Welsh Pre-Cadet & Below Open Championships 2015, held at the National Sports Centre in Cardiff. A team of nine participants, led by Greenhouse coach Mike Mounowah, attended the judo event and everyone brought home a medal. Some fantastic judo was on display throughout the championships, with plenty of hard fought contests for the Cardiff crowd to enjoy. Big congratulations to the medalists!
Gold – Ayoub Dafallah, Nadir Dafallah, George Millington
Silver – Kheireddine Guemanne, Ellis Mersh
Bronze – Zain Choudry, Adem Aouicha, Omar Amaidia, Hicham Dob
George Millington put in a really gutsy performance. Looking like he might lose in the semi final, George came back into the match with great strength, scoring ippon in the last second of the contestant and receiving an ovation from the public for his performance. Nadir Dafallah has confirmed his status of British medalist by winning all his contests with ippon.
The judo team from Ernest Bevin had more great results a few weeks ago when six boys competed in the Northern Home Counties and London Judo Development Tournament (Saturday 2nd May 2015) at the University of East London. Well done to the medalists:
Gold – Samuel brooks Gilzeane, Adem Aouicha, Shamel Kutty
Silver – Ahmed Raja
Bronze – Cyprian Gut
