Angus, our Nomura volunteer, nominated for National Volunteer of the Year Award
Angus Warren, our committed volunteer from Greenhouse Sports corporate partner Nomura, has been nominated for the prestigious National Volunteer of the Year Award from Table Tennis England.
Angus volunteers with the Greenhouse Sports table tennis programme at Morpeth School in Tower Hamlets, where Head Coach Helder nominated him for his impressive commitment and dedication. Over the two years he has been a volunteer, Angus has contributed almost 200 hours of his time to the programme, working with the young participants to develop their skills on and off the table and gained his coaching qualification in table tennis. He has also facilitated and hosted a number of table tennis events at the Nomura Head Office in London to raise awareness of our partnership, increase employee engagement and raise additional funds for the charity.
Angus’s incredible commitment has been recognised at all levels. In November 2016, he was named London Volunteer of the Year and, having now also won Regional Volunteer of the Year, he is in the running for the national award. Part of the Table Tennis England’s Pride of Table Tennis Awards, the national winner will be revealed at the PG Mutual National Championships in Nottingham on March 4.
Angus became a volunteer for Greenhouse Sports because of his belief in the power of sport to develop young people and teach them important life skills.
He says: “It is incredibly rewarding to see young people progressing and achieving things they didn’t expect they could do.”
A big thank you and good luck to Angus from all of us at Greenhouse Sports!
