Marching into victory: This month’s basketball achievements
March has been an exciting month for our basketball participants and their coaches, who have excelled in their sport at regional and national level. Greenhouse Sports coaches work full time in their schools to deliver intensive yet inspiring sports programmes. These programmes are a platform for young people – a platform for them to experience growth and success. Our basketball programmes, in both mainstream schools and our community club, are generously supported by Prudential plc. Thanks to their support, 1000 young people participate in basketball programmes with Greenhouse Sports.
Jr NBA Finals
The Jr. NBA Basketball England League is an exciting partnership between the National Basketball League (NBA) and Basketball England (BE), creating a competitive league for boys and girls aged 11-12. NBA Ambassador and former Portland Trail Blazers centre Audie Norris attended the finals and ran a basketball skills clinic.
The Year 7 Girls team from Clapton Girls Academy took home a silver medal, as did the Year 7 Boys team from Platanos College.
London Youth Games
The London Youth Games is Europe’s largest youth sports festival, taking place over nine months including both school and community competitions across 30 different sports. The competitions are part of the national School Games Programme.
Representing five London boroughs were the Greenhouse Sports teams from Clapton Girls Academy, Platanos College, Harris Academy South Norwood, Raine’s Foundation School, and Barking Abbey School.

Dynamik Basketball England National School Finals
Coach Laurent Irish took his Under 14 Boys team to the National School Finals held in Leicester on 30 March. This is a huge achievement for both coach and team. Coach L, as http://www.achaten-suisse.com/ he is known, started the basketball programme at Raine’s Foundation two years ago. At that time, he was unable to form an Under 14 Boys team because the skill level was not high enough. Under his leadership, the participants have excelled at their sport, and can now be considered the second best team nationally.
Congratulations to Coach L and the Under 14 Boys!
