Greenhouse Sports Volunteer Week celebrates Shelana
On 1 June, London sport consortium Burgess Sport gathered a group together to celebrate the special volunteers that make sport possible in the south London community. Greenhouse Sports Football Club (GSFC), based out of Burgess Park in Peckham, was in attendance following another successful season and put forward volunteer Shelana Hodge as their choice for Best Volunteer.
Matthew Shobande, the Programme Manager of GSFC, had this to say about Shelana’s contributions:
“Shelana Hodge joined the Greenhouse Sports Football Club staff team over two years ago. She initially became part of the club when her children were part of the teams within the club, before expressing some interest in helping out with the day-to-day running of the club.
Since joining, Shelana has been an asset to everyone and everything associated with Greenhouse Sports FC. She currently helps out with our community Saturday soccer school and has become an instrumental member of staff in the roles of registration, supervision and parental liaison on the day.
Further to that, her ever present commitment and continuous will to help drive our services forward, not only helping the club, but also acting as a positive influence within the community. This is why I think this award will serve as a token of appreciation for the effort she brings.”
Thank you so much Shelana for all your contributions to Greenhouse Sports FC!
Greenhouse Sports is celebrating contributions of all our volunteers during #volunteersweek. With over 2800 volunteer hours contributed to our programmes over the past year, we couldn’t achieve our goals without them! .
